Michigan Cyber Safety Initiative - Community Seminar
During the months of April and May, many of our students will be participating in a Michigan Cyber Safety Initiative assembly presented by the Michigan Attorney General's Office.  On April 28, 2014, a community seminar for parents and members of the community will be held beginning at 6:30PM at the Howard Pepper Auditorium located at Grand Blanc High School.  The Community Seminar presentation provides practical tools including Internet Safety Tips and how to: 1) access the Michigan Sex Offender Registry; 2) understand the impact of digital footprints; 3) appreciate the risk of sharing photos with embedded location information; 4) recognize the potential dangers and legal ramification of sexting; and 5) identify cyberbullying warning signs and develop a plan of action if needed.  For an event flyer please click HERE.
Last Day of School Changes Due to House Bill 4295
House Bill 4295 (recently signed by the governor) provided some make-up day relief, this year only, to districts around the state that usually have more than the minimum required number of school days within an academic year.  Grand Blanc is one of those districts.  So, this is our make-up day.  We have checked and double-checked that we have the required number of days and instructional hours.

Thursday, April 24 – Originally a professional development day, will now be a full day of school.  (A reminder Synrevoice will be sent out).

Wednesday, May 7 – Originally a “late start day,” will now be a regularly scheduled school day.  No late start on that day.  This will add 2 hours 20 minutes to our instructional time.

Thursday, June 12 – The original last day of school will still be the last day of school for all schools except Brendel Elementary.

Friday, June 13 – Will be the last (full) day of school for students at Brendel Elementary.   Also, the last day for all but Brendel teachers.

Monday, June 16 – Last day for Brendel  teachers.

Five minutes may also be shaved off the kindergarten lunch hours at Reid and Brendel between now and the end of the school year.  This will help contribute to the required instructional time necessary for those classes.
